Dir. Radu Ciorniciuc. Romania/Germany, 2020, 86 mins. In Romanian with English subtitles. Winner of the Special Jury Prize for Cinematography at Sundance, Acasă, My Home brings viewers intimately into the life of a Romanian family of eleven who are in the process of being displaced from their home in an urban park so that it can be transformed into a biodiversity habitat. This feature debut by Romanian investigative journalist Radu Ciorniciuc places the city of Bucharest in the background to forefront the ways that the Enache family exists on the outskirts of society, ghostlike, living independent of social and government structures, until their lifestyle is abruptly forced to change. With tenderness and transparency, the film reflects on what is gained and what is lost. A Zeitgeist Films Release in association with Kino Lorber. View trailer.

“A memorable variation on a timeless theme. Lyrical and provocative, Acasă, My Home brings an intimate slant to age-old questions about the value of conformity.” –Sheri Linden, Hollywood Reporter

Critic's Pick: "...both intimate and analytical, a sensitive portrait of real people undergoing enormous change and a meditation on what that change might mean. It taps into something primal in the human condition, a basic conflict between the desire for freedom and the tendency toward organization — an argument, finally, about the meaning of home." — A.O. Scott, The New York Times
