Fall Family Day

Museum admission is FREE for youth ages 17 and under (children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult)

Celebrate The Jim Henson Exhibition with a day packed with fun and educational activities for children of all ages. On Fall Family Day, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the world of puppetry through hands-on puppet making and media creation, a scavenger hunt, face painting, and opportunities to attend a live interactive puppet show (for ages 2-5), puppetry workshops, and screenings of Muppets Most Wanted and more!

Drop-in activities include (no tickets required):

Puppet making and more in the Moving Image Studio
11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  
Recommended for ages 4+
This super-sized version of the Museum’s drop-in studio will feature activities focused on building paper-bag puppets using a variety of materials, puppet karaoke, and coloring.

Face Painting with the Cheeky Chipmunk
11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Children can pick from an assortment of Jim Henson Exhibition–themed images and have their faces painted to get in the festive mood. Space is limited, pick up a ticket when you arrive to reserve your spot.

Scavenger Hunt
11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 
Recommended for children ages 6+ with the help of an adult
Throughout the day, families can explore The Jim Henson Exhibition with a fun, and interactive, scavenger hunt. Prizes provided by WNET Channel Thirteen for successfully completed hunts (while supplies last).

Jim Henson's Tales of Muppetland
11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m (looping all day)
Tuts Fever Movie Palace installation and theater
No one can tell a classic fairy tale better than Kermit and his friends. This program is a compilation of classic Muppet fairy tale and storybook moments, including some of Kermit’s Sesame Street News reports, excerpts from The Muppet Show and special condensed versions of Tales of the Tinkerdee, Hey Cinderella!, and The Frog Prince. Approximately 74 minutes, looping throughout the day.

In addition to the drop-in activities above, the Museum will present ticketed screenings, workshops, and events throughout the day. These include: screenings of Muppets Most Wanted (11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.); Under the Tree, a live puppet show for young children (11:00 a.m.); screenings of the compilation video A Sam the Eagle Tribute (1:00 and 3:00 p.m.); the Ocean Creatures Puppet Craft Workshop (2:00 p.m); and Puppetry for TV, Film, and Video Workshop (3:30 p.m.). These events are free for ages 17 and under but require tickets; adult companions required for children younger than 14.
